NEVER Download the now-playing plugin for winamp!

Along time ago, I downloaded a now playing plugin for winamp, made by Brandon Fuller. This plugin, tweets what you are playing on winamp, so that on twitter you will get a #nowplaying - artist - title tweet that music fans often tweet themselves.  It automatically does this, and I thought it would be way better than doing it manually, but I was wrong.

The first thing is that this plugin, is crippleware, broken "software" that won't do what it should do until you pay the author. It is so bad that after 5 now playing tweets it shuts down and gives you an annoying pop up that says "trial limit reached per session". So I closed the winamp session and ignored it. No way am I giving money to this author if he is advertising crippleware as a free plugin, and he was.

But it gets worse.

Fastforward 2 weeks and the plugin decides to piss me off again. This time it gives me a pop up after 5 tweets that says "Buy Now Playing Now! Trial Limit Reached!". And then when I click on the pop up, it gave me the same pop up over and over again, and wouldn't stop till I closed winamp. Right then I uninstalled the piece-of-shit plugin and got rid of it. It sucks ass.

So That's why I am writing this blog post. I am warning people to avoid this plugin like the plague, it's shitty crippleware and is also malware thanks to the endless pop ups it gives you if you don't buy it. It's even worse. There is actually a malware report associated with it. I don't know if this report is a legit report, but I would avoid any program that is nasty like this. Just don't download this plugin thinking it is a free winamp plugin. It's a peice of crippleware with malware elements. It is disgusting, and so is the author.

I am quite pissed off at the crippleware BS that is around now. Crap like this is preventing me from enjoying free software, because half of it is not really free. And to disguise a crippleware/malware trojan as a free plugin is disgusting. The author needs to be prosecuted for this. I'm pretty sure it's against the law.  Someone should file a complaint. It's disgusting...
